An individual who contaminated candy with sleeping medication and provided them to minors at a summer camp in the area has confessed to sexual crimes against two boys aged between nine and ten.

Jon Ruben was arrested after eight children and an older person fell ill at the facility in mid-summer.

The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, pleaded guilty to a multiple criminal counts when he stood at the judicial center on Friday.

Yet, he refused to admit one particular crime he was facing, which was concerning a nine-year-old child.

The accused was kept in jail before a additional proceeding on November 28th.

'Treat game'

The legal representative, prosecuting, outlined the defendant's actions to the court.

She stated his those affected were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a summer camp which he managed.

Ruben played a "sweet game" with the minors, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would access the boys' rooms when they were preparing to sleep and request they to ingest treats "as quickly as they can".

She informed the proceedings Ruben had played this game with the boys "repeatedly", and minors had earlier experienced illness the following morning.

She stated the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this repeatedly as the children being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had suspicions in recently.

The prosecutor continued: "This year his stepson had concerns about the activities, justifiably.

"They decided to have a look in the defendant's belongings."

The legal counsel said materials including lubricant, ointment and medical needles were located, and his family member alerted the police about his suspicions.

She said the man proceeded to engage in the "treat game" with six children that night - that Saturday - and they were everyone unwell the next day.

"Law enforcement" had not gone out by that time," she stated further.

The police watchdog, the investigative body, previously told that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.

The legal representative said the minors were unable to walk properly due to being ill, so the stepson contacted the authorities a second time.

She said Ruben then conducted the "treat game" in a room of five children.
